Privacy notice

What we know about you, why, and what you can ask us to do with it.

Last updated 1 September 2026

Ride2 is a demonstration project, not a real company. This page shows how we'd run things if we were.

1.Who we are

Ride2 Coaches decides how your personal data is used (we're the “controller”). Ride2 is a demonstration project: please don't enter real personal details you wouldn't want in a test system.

2.What we collect

  • Your account: name, email address, mobile number (if you give it), and your preferences.
  • Your bookings: journeys, passengers' names and ticket types, whether someone needs a wheelchair space or bike space, and the messages we've sent you.
  • Payments: the card brand, last four digits and expiry, and a token from our payment provider. We never see or store your full card number.
  • Using our website: basic technical logs (like your IP address) to keep the service secure. We don't track where you are — the live map shows where our coaches are, not our passengers.

3.Why we use it

  • To sell you tickets and get you where you're going (our contract with you).
  • To tell you about your journey — confirmations, delays, changes and refunds (our contract, and our legitimate interest in running a reliable service).
  • To keep financial records the law requires us to keep.
  • To send news and offers — only if you've said yes, and you can stop any time.
  • To understand how our website is used — only if you've accepted analytics cookies.

4.Who we share it with

We don't sell your data. We share only what's needed with the companies that help us run Ride2:

  • our sign-in provider, which manages your login securely;
  • our payment provider, which handles your card;
  • our email and text message providers, which deliver your journey updates;
  • our map tile provider, which receives your IP address when your browser loads map images.

Drivers see passenger names and ticket types for their own coach, so they can check you in.

5.How long we keep it

Booking and payment records: six years, because tax law says so. Your account: until you ask us to close it. Journey messages: two years. Coach location data: three days.

6.Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, object to how we use it, or ask us to send it to you in a portable format. Contact us through our help page and we'll reply within a month. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
